Workers Compensation EMR Management & Strategy

In 2015, Texas became an NCCI state—changing the way experience modification factors (ex-mods) are calculated for businesses. NCCI’s experience rating rules allow for an experience rating adjustment (ERA) of 70% for medical-only claims in the experience rating calculation. This means that only 30% of a medical-only claim is used in the experience rating calculation.

Why this is important: For companies with heavy Workers Compensation premium or for those that work in industries that require an acceptable EMR for revenue opportunities, understanding the financial implications and adopting a strategy are critical to the success and ultimate profitability of the company.
